Dr. Lori Miller
Prior to joining this practice she was employed by Unity Point Clinics for 15 years. She served the community of Norwalk and surrounding areas as a Family Medicine provider.
She graduated from the University of Iowa with an undergraduate degree in Psychology. As a 21 year old, ready to leave Iowa winters, she ventured to the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth Texas where she received her degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. After getting married and having her first child, she felt a tug at her heart to “go home”. It was then she was accepted to the Iowa Lutheran Family Medicine Program in Des Moines Iowa. The Iowa Health system built a clinic in Norwalk for Dr. Miller and her partner to start. She stayed there 15 years watching families grow without a single regret.
Having received an Osteopathic training, she was always more “open minded” than her MD peers. Though she did not perform osteopathic manipulation, she eagerly encouraged her patients to pursue non- traditional therapies such as manual manipulation by chiropractors or osteopaths, acupuncture and many others. Through some of her own soul searching, education and investigation, she was exposed to the world of Functional Medicine.
In 2013 she received her designation as Fellow of Functional Medicine from the Metabolic Institute (formerly A4M) offered through the University of South Florida. After several years of trying to incorporate functional medicine concepts into her existing practice, she finally decided to leave that thriving practice in order to pursue her passion in Functional Medicine full time. It is through Functional Medicine that she hopes to help people take control of their own lives; to branch away from the world of pharmaceuticals, and to be empowered to be in charge of our health.
Dr. Miller was born in Nebraska, but has lived in Iowa most of her life. She is actively involved in her church, and with her family. She has 2 children: Collin (19) attends Drake University, and Camille (17) is a junior at Norwalk high school. Lori continues to live in Norwalk with her husband Brad, where she is active in her community. She loves to cycle and run in her free time, when not learning about health and wellness!!
Originally from downtown Chicago, Anastasia relocated to West Des Moines with her husband after attending and meeting at the University of Iowa.
Anastasia ran her own small business in Clive for 3 years before joining the Livewell team. This time allowed her to learn a great deal about all the “how to’s” and “why not’s” that go on behind the scenes in daily business operation. As well as how to take ideas and goals and translate them in to plans and trajectory.
Although Anastasia ran a women’s clothing boutique, functional medicine has always been a passion of hers. She fell in love with functional medicine while on her own health journey. Constantly reading books and articles to expand her knowledge, she became a shoulder to lean on and resource for friends and family who were looking to take their own paths in functional medicine. When moving on from her business she knew she had to do something where she could align both her passion and her business experience to help make a difference.
When Anastasia isn’t at Livewell she enjoys spending time with her husband Nate, dogs Louis and Rosie, and family and friends.
Lynn is an Iowa native growing up in Adel and graduating from Dallas Center-Grimes High School. She attended Drake University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Marketing. A year after college she started an in-home business and experienced great success. She moved to Shenandoah, IA, and by the time her first child was born, she was in a position to work from home and raise her family. Lynn has earned many top sales awards and achieved the top 2% of the company. She has traveled nationwide to attend leadership conferences and used that training to mentor and coach other women. Due to life circumstances, Lynn moved back to the Des Moines area in March 2011 where she worked for the American Red Cross as a Training Specialist for the Iowa Territory.
Her interest in alternatives to traditional medicine resulted from conversations she had with a friend who happens to work for Dr. Tammy Watkins, Dr. Zac’s wife. When a position opened with Dr. Zac, Lynn applied for it immediately. She joined the Livewell team in September 2013. Her passion for functional medicine continues to grow as she witnesses the health and quality of life of patient’s improve.
Lynn currently lives in Grimes, IA, with her daughter, Jordan (16) and her son, Zach (12). She is a busy mom attending sporting events and other kids activities. In her free time she loves to cook and try new recipes (ask her for her newest favorite). She also enjoys gardening, going to farmer’s markets, biking, traveling, watching football and reading.

Kelby started health coaching in 2018 after finishing with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Kelby has a passion for educating, cooking, gardening as well as eating plant-based. While getting her undergrad in Graphic Journalism from Grand View, she found herself creating magazines and taking on stories about wellness, profiles and food. After graduation she felt a pull for more, she knew she wanted to write for a health magazine but wanted to be behind the research and advice. She traveled for three weeks job shadowing, visiting Natural Medicine schools and learning more about what she wants to give to others which led her to the field of Naturopathic Medicine.
Kelby started her healing and health journey six years ago. She started off with yoga, meditation, positive thinking and shifting her health which led to an interest in becoming a yoga instructor. Kelby has taught yoga for six years, in Des Moines for many non-profit studios, events, and festivals. Her love of connecting with others comes from her family, who has taught her the importance of showing up for others, hosting dinners, leading with faith, being a part of a team and giving back to the community.
When she isn’t at Livewell or teaching yoga, she is taking premed classes to get into a Naturopathic College, cooking new recipes, tending to her plants/garden, shopping locally, enjoying the outdoors or planning her next trip to the Mountains. Kelby teaches people, “No one is you and that is your power,” her goal is to inspire the individual experience and empower the wisdom/healing from within.

PHLEBOTOMIST AND MEDICAL ASSISTANT
She is originally from Iowa City, and attended the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Family Services. After college, she moved to Anchorage, Alaska, which is where her journey in the field began. She worked for 8 years at a midwifery and women’s health clinic and birth center. Attending hundreds of births and returning to school to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), while assisting in the busy clinic as a medical assistant. She had her two children there, and moved back to Iowa in 2016.
After moving to Iowa and in search of some fast-paced work in the field, she began her work at Mercy Des Moines, first doing inpatient phlebotomy and later in the Emergency Department. As fun as that was, finding the LiveWell clinic felt like “coming home” in a sense. Back to the beginning much like midwifery care where we get to be an active participant in our own healthcare, and focused on a more holistic approach to our health and wellness.
When she’s not working at the LiveWell clinic, she works as a photographer. With any down time she enjoys spending time with her son Henry (9), and daughter Violet (7), their old pup Finn, cooking, reading, doing Crossfit, and now doing renovations on their new home!

Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Kelsey moved to Iowa in 2017. She and her boyfriend, Kyle McGinn, are enjoying their new home and life with their pitbull Zetty. Kelsey joined the team in January of 2018. Her duties include engaging with patients and helping the clinic run its day-to-day operations. Having worked in chiropractic clinics in the past, Kelsey has a basic understanding of functional medicine and is excited to continue helping patients, learning about the process and growing with The Livewell clinic.
As she continues her journey here at The Livewell clinic, Kelsey plans to become more engaged with patients and guiding them on their health journey.
PATIENT EXPERIENCE COORDINATOR
Erin is our newest addition to The Livewell Clinic and is thrilled to be joining the team as a Patient Experience Coordinator. A bit about Erin, she grew up in a military family and moved to the Midwest when she was 14. Iowa stole her heart when she studied at Simpson College, and while she has travelled quite a bit and lived and worked abroad she is delighted to be back in the Des Moines area. Erin is a fitness enthusiast, her background is mostly in running, she completed her first marathon last year. The Livewell Clinic interests Erin because she is a people pleaser who wants to effectively help people. The mission at Livewell sits closely to Erin’s heart and personal beliefs and she is beyond happy to be assisting patients in their goals of getting better and living well.
Amy is an nurse at the Livewell Clinic. She went to Grand View University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked for 10 years on many units in the hospital setting; adult acute care. Her nursing career started at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. After two years there she moved to Minneapolis where, for the next 8 years, she worked downtown at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
While living in MN Amy was introduced to a more holistic approach to health. This is where she says her own health journey began. Learning about nutrition and a more natural approach to health became a passion for her. While taking a pause in her nursing career to raise her children she spent much of her time learning about, and teaching others about whole food nutrition and natural health. While Amy values and honors her time worked in the hospital, she’s excited to work with a Functional Medicine approach to health. This is where, she believes, people can be empowered to take control of their own health.
Amy is married to her husband, Kris. They’ve been blessed to have three children...Madeline, Roman, and Graham. Days are busy with lots of activities and sports! She loves spending time with her kids, her friends, watching movies, listening (and singing;) to music, decorating cakes, reading, relaxing by the pool, and finding creative things to do.
Lacey is an Iowa native, growing up in Mason City and she has lived in the Des Moines area since 2003. Lacey didn’t find a love for nursing until later in life after she had her children. She quit her job and went to nursing school at Kaplan University and later received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Walden University. She has worked in various hospital settings, most recent being the Emergency Department at Unity Point, until she joined the Livewell Clinic in August of 2019.
Lacey has an immense passion to help people and that is what she loves most about nursing. She is new to functional medicine, but she has a great desire to learn how to help patients take control of their own health and manage chronic conditions.
Lacey is married to her husband, Chet, for 12 years and has two children, Max (age 11) and Sawyer (age 8) and one fur baby, Ozzie (age 3). She has an active family, very involved in sports with both children. She loves watching her children compete at just about anything. The family also likes to spend time at Clear Lake in the summers and go boating. Lacey loves to run, shop and learn.
Hannah began her journey as a nurse at Mercy College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked for 8 years in the Intensive Care Unit prior to joining The Livewell Team.
As a chronic question asker, Hannah is always looking for the “why”, which made her question several things during her schooling as well as career as an ICU nurse. Why is a diabetic patient being served a meal tray full of carbohydrates? Why are we placed on medications for one thing and then getting a follow up script to treat the side effects of the initial medication? Etc.
When her son was born with digestive issues and the only answer the doctor’s could provide was “give him anti reflux meds” she had to know the why… which led to hours of research and ultimately functional medicine. Her favorite part about this job is helping her patients do just that. Let’s not just ignore symptoms or throw a pill into the mix. Let’s not just accept a diagnosis and be told that this is our new normal… Let’s dig and dig until we know the origin and can treat the root cause!!
Hannah is married to her husband, Josh. They have two kids Silas and Josi. She is super involved at church, loves to do all the things in the kitchen and is enjoying the homeschool mom life.
